bahrainthismonth.com | DECEMBER 2025 NATIONAL DAY 29 A patient at KHAMH presented with an abnormality in cardiac health. Once the doctors identified a rare genetic condition, the KHAMH team wanted to provide the family with as much clarity and reassurance as possible and turned to Mayo Clinic, through its e-consult option. eConsult is one of the valuable benefits of their MCCN collaboration which connects KHAMH doctors with Mayo Clinic experts. What happened next felt almost meant to be. The Mayo physician who responded wasn’t just knowledgeable; he was, in fact, the very researcher who had originally identified this one rare genetic variant in his own laboratory. With his unique insight, he was able to answer all of KHAMH’s doctors’ questions and provide a level of clarity and reassurance. The KHAMH team then confidently continued with the patient’s treatment plan, knowing they were offering care supported by the highest level of expertise. “Our physicians, surgeons and other clinical services professionals have been able to gain and share knowledge, with colleagues and patients, that is up to date,” he said. “In fact, on the ‘Ask Mayo Expert’ web-based knowledge base, we have recorded approximately 5,000 unique sessions, covering more than 5,500 unique medical topics, reflecting the growing engagement of our clinicians with evidencebased global knowledge”. “We have also consulted experts from Mayo Clinic in paediatric diabetes, neurorehabilitation, and values-based care, enhancing the quality of patient management and clinical decision- “Our physicians, surgeons and other clinical services professionals have been able to gain and share knowledge, with colleagues and patients, that is up to date,” - Dr. Deepak Abraham making at King Hamad American Mission Hospital. bahrainthismonth.com | DECEMBER 2025 NATIONAL DAY 32 Educating for Tomorrow New Millennium School pioneers a student-led format with an emphasis on 21st century skills. Student-Led Learning sits at the heart of the school’s philosophy. Rooted in Flip Learning action research launched in 2016, the model encourages students to explore through inquiry, develop ownership of their learning journey and build confidence in their ability to think independently. Lessons often extend across disciplines and are shaped to spark curiosity and deepen understanding through reflection and hands-on engagement. Innovation continues across everyday school life. Bagless Day invites students to step away from textbooks and immerse themselves in activities such as drama, art, science-based experiments and outdoor exploration. The AI Club, TED-Ed Club, NMS Press Club and Radio NMS expand opportunities for expression and creativity, giving learners platforms where ideas can grow. Throughout the year, students take part in interschool oratory events, science quizzes, art exhibitions and a variety of cultural performances. A strong home–school partnership supports these experiences through ongoing online communication and responsive feedback. The school actively aligns with the UN Sustainable Development Goals and Bahrain Vision 2030, with particular emphasis on SDG 4: Quality Education. Sustainability forms a central strand of the school’s culture, visible through programmes such as Tree Plantation Drives, Clean NMS, Green NMS, CURA recycling initiatives, Earth Hour activities, the Happiness Revolution Magazine and NMUN. These initiatives reinforce values of environmental care, empathy and civic responsibility. The broader educational ecosystem at NMS unites academic development with opportunities in arts, sports, robotics, technology and specialised club activities. Students distinguish themselves in Olympiads, World Scholar’s Cup, Hackfest, Medathlon, aptitude evaluations and national-level contests. Across these areas, they refine vital competencies for the modern world, from critical thinking to communication and creative problem-solving. New Millennium School nurtures learners who are confident, compassionate and prepared for the challenges ahead. The result is an environment where education broadens perspective, builds character and guides young people towards becoming thoughtful global citizens. New Millennium School has evolved into one of Bahrain’s most forward-looking centres of learning since its establishment in 2004 under the Knowledge Management Group led by Padma Shri Dr. Ravi Pillai and Mrs. Geetha Ravi Pillai. With Principal Dr. Arun Kuumar Sharma at the helm, the school has reached a landmark achievement as the first CBSE institution in Bahrain to be rated Outstanding by the Bahrain Quality Assurance Authority. The distinction reflects its academic strength, innovative ethos and commitment to a learner-focused environment. Dr Ravi Pillai Mrs. Geetha Ravi Pillai

bahrainthismonth.com | DECEMBER 2025 NATIONAL DAY 43 Honouring Heritage, Driving Growth As Bahrain marks National Day and Accession Day, Al Arayedh Group Holding Chairman, Nasser Al Arayedh, reflects on another year of progress and its steadfast commitment to the Kingdom’s development under His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa’s leadership. These efforts have not gone unnoticed. Mr. Al Arayedh explains: “We have supported numerous programmes that focus on families in need and on empowering youth and women, and we are proud that this work has been acknowledged by the Ministry of Social Affairs, the Capital Governorate, the Northern Governorate and other official bodies.” For the group, such recognition underscores a longterm belief that commercial success and social responsibility must go hand in hand. He also expressed sincere appreciation for Bahrain’s ongoing transformation under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad, supported by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister. Mr. Al Arayedh says: “Bahrain’s leadership has driven real change across the country, with remarkable progress in economic, political and social spheres. We remain confident in the Kingdom’s trajectory and hope to see further prosperity and opportunity for all who call Bahrain home.” In an evolving economic landscape, Al Arayedh Group continues to identify opportunities within the Kingdom’s most dynamic sectors. Mr. Al Arayedh explains: “Real estate and investment remain at the heart of our strategy. We are in the process of planning and developing new, innovative real estate projects that respond directly to the Kingdom’s needs.” This approach allows the group to balance solid, long-term assets with agile investment decisions attuned to regional trends. As a family-owned company, the group recognises both the strengths and the specific challenges that this structure brings. Mr. Al Arayedh comments: “The key to continuity and success in a family business is open communication and ongoing education within the family. We make sure that each member understands the direction in which the business is heading, and we encourage them to be actively involved in implementing strategies that safeguard its future. It becomes a shared learning journey as much as a commercial one.” Looking ahead to 2026, the group intends to deepen its international engagement whilst capitalising on opportunities within Bahrain and the wider region. “We are optimistic about the year to come,” says Mr. Al Arayedh. “Our focus is on reinforcing our position in Bahrain, while carefully expanding our regional footprint where it complements our existing strengths.” At the same time, he acknowledges that the global environment remains complex, demanding flexibility, resilience and prudent risk management. Mr. Al Arayedh remains confident that Bahrain is well placed to assume an increasingly pivotal role in regional development. He notes: “The wider region is growing, and Bahrain is in a strong position to serve as a key player in that growth. Through our projects and initiatives, we aim to contribute meaningfully to this vision and to support the Kingdom as it seizes new opportunities.” Reflecting on the past year, Mr. Al Arayedh pointed to both strategic expansion and sustained philanthropic activity as key pillars of the group’s journey. He notes: “We have continued to build on our international presence. Kuala Lumpur has now joined our established representative offices in London, Singapore and Geneva, strengthening our ability to connect Bahrain with global opportunities.” Alongside this international outlook, the group has remained deeply rooted in the local community through wide-ranging social initiatives.
