November 2016 89 www.bahrainthismonth.com THE GRANDMASTER CHIME Last but not least, Patek Philippe announced a changing of the guard at the top of its ranking for the most complicated regularly produced wristwatches. The new number one is the Grandmaster Chime with a novel and distinctive exterior. Featuring 20 complications, among them five strikework functions, it redefines the benchmark. Its hand-guilloched white-gold case clearly distinguishes it from its predecessor, the totally hand-engraved Grandmaster Chime (Ref. 5175) that was crafted in a limited seven-watch commemorative edition. This work of genius has a movement power of a minimum of 72 hours and a strikework power reserve of 30 hours. The dial displays local time in hours and minutes, hours in a second time zone, alarm time, analogue perpetual date, moon phases, strikework power-reserve indicator, movement power-reserve indicator, strikework mode display, crown position indicator and the strikework isolator display. THE CALATRAVA TIMELESS WHITE Especially for the lady’s wrist, Patek Philippe presented the Calatrava Timeless White Ref. 7122. The infinite beauty of the bright white dial, innovative gemsetting artistry, featuring white flawless diamonds, and a refined case design make this watch compellingly seductive. The feminine yet bold design bears 130 parts and 18 precious stones. It has a minimum power reserve of 44 hours. Ladies have a choice between the 18K rhodium-plated white gold or 18K rose gold casings, both equally breathtaking. The case back is sapphirecrystal and is resistant to water up to 30 metres. The dial is white lacquered and polished, with 18K gold hour markers to match the case. Pretty leafshaped hour and minute hands in 18K gold adorn the dial and case perfectly. The nacre white alligator strap makes a statement on the wrist. THE WORLD TIME The new World Time watch Ref. 5230 supersedes all previous models of its lineage because politicallymotivated modifications of the World Time order called for a new time-zone scale. Patek Philippe took this as an opportunity to subtly rework the dial and case of the new World Time, and the result has been well appreciated. It displays the local time in hours and minutes and has a city disk with 24 place names. It also has a 24-hour ring with day/night indication in colours and sun/moon symbols. Its casing is in 18K white or rose gold, with a sapphirecrystal case back. The watch is water resistant to 30 metres and has a power reserve of 48 hours. The smart, three-zone dial has the city disk printed black and a centre hand-guilloched basket weave pattern. The hands make for artistic components of the dial.
