114 July 2012 BTM A Culinary Jewel KEMPINSKI GRAND & IXIR HOTEL BAHRAIN CITY CENTRE Situated on the ground floor of Kempinski Grand & Ixir Hotel Bahrain City Centre and featuring an eclectic array of Middle Eastern dishes and traditional entertainment, a very stylish restaurant opens its doors for Iftar and Ghabga this Ramadan. Baharat boasts light and dark imperator marble along with black, grey and pearl colours which dominate the spacious restaurant. Monolithic counter designs with live cooking stations, saj and tandoor ovens, private dining areas and a large terrace with a tent, to enjoy shisha under the moonlight, all create an enjoyable dining experience throughout the Holy Month. On the menu Begin with a wide selection of appetisers that include hot and cold mezze and soups such as Moroccan saffron seafood soup. You will also be glad to find a manakish station apart from a grill counter that serves freshly prepared shish taouk, lamb chops and dajaj mosahab. The main courses are equally tempting. They include fish tagines, kunafa pan-fried salmon and hamam manshi with frekk (stuffed pigeon). You could also opt for the beef kebbah arnabia, the spinach and feta cheese stuffed and crusted baby chicken, or the more traditional lamb ouzi. A delectable array of customary desserts such as loukamat, baklava, katayef assafer, mouhalabieh, and of course um ali has been arranged to delight the sweet tooth. Choose from a range of traditional Arabic beverages to accompany the dishes. In the kitchen Born in Morocco, Issam Seddoq, Baharat’s talented chef de cuisine, brings a wealth of culinary knowledge from his previous ventures in Marrakech, Saudi Arabia and Dubai. He has been involved in different hotel openings throughout his career which helped extend his spectrum and passion for food. Glancing into pots and pans full of fragrant aromas in his grandmother’s kitchen from a young age, a passion for Arabic and Lebanese cuisine was awakened within chef Issam. Years later, he started creating his own mix of spices to personalise and fine-tune his gastronomic creations. Growing up in Morocco, where only the most simple and fresh ingredients are used, dining is more of a social gathering of friends and family rather than a formal affair. Chef Issam’s personal goal is to share his love for cooking and express his emotion through his authentic dishes. The Kempinski Ixir Hotel invites you to take part in this experience at their Arabic restaurant, Baharat. E Call 17 171-000 or visit www.kempinski.com/Bahrain.
