Under the sprawling branches of an ancient Sedra tree, the venue transforms nightly into a living celebration of Bahraini heritage, where music, storytelling and gastronomy converge in a sophisticated, contemporary setting. Hani Sadek, General Manager of Al Sedra, describes the vision behind this modern revival. “Al Sedra has been part of Muharraq for over 25 years,” he explains, “but we wanted to reimagine it as a destination where tradition meets luxury and every detail is purposeful from the décor to the food to the experiences we offer our guests.” Adjacent to The Art Station, a vibrant creative hub where Bahrain’s emerging artists, musicians and filmmakers showcase their talents, Al Sedra has become an extension of the island’s artistic heartbeat. Every element – the furnishings, the lighting and the subtle touches of artistry is designed to immerse guests in a space that feels simultaneously timeless and modern. The restaurant’s namesake, the Sedra tree, embodies endurance, wisdom and rootedness. “It inspired everything we do here,” Mr. Sadek says. “It reminds us that heritage is living. Each Folklore Show is a continuation of that legacy, under its branches.” Central to this reimagined concept is the Folklore Show, held every Thursday and Friday from 8pm onwards. Under the direction of acclaimed Bahraini actor and director Jamaan Alrowaiei, Al Sedra Folklore Show is a 90-minute tapestry of music, dance and theatre, celebrating the island’s rich cultural traditions. Traditional instruments mingle with contemporary choreography, while subtle surprises – from miniature fashion showcases of traditional abayas to short theatrical vignettes make every evening unique. “Guests are not mere spectators,” Mr. Sadek notes. “They are part of the story, moving through heritage, music and emotion.” The culinary journey is equally immersive.
