One of the newest elements of the show is a focus on the space industry, a fast-growing and dynamic area of the aerospace industry. BIAS is delighted to host US astronaut and engineer Col Al Worden, who was the Command Module Pilot for the Apollo 15 lunar mission in 1971. Col Worden will be visiting schools and universities during his trip to Bahrain in order to share his experience and inspire the future generation of spacewalkers. PUBLIC SHOW – November 14-17 Visiting an airshow is known to have inspired many successful aviation executives, with the up-close exposure to aircraft and the opportunity to watch them display, creating a lifelong interest. Based on this principle, the organisers of BIAS have focused on engaging the public at the show since its inception. The public area near the Sakhir Airbase provides families with the opportunity to enjoy different aspects of the show, with aerobatic teams performing exciting displays in the sky, and an array of entertainment acts and performances on the ground. Extended by one day after the trade show, the public show this year will be four days for the first time, allowing more families the chance to enjoy it. In the Sky Scheduled for five hours daily, the display includes some of the world’s best aerobatic flying teams, as well as military jets, big civilian airliners and historic classics – this year’s lineup will be the most diverse yet. On the Ground There’s as much happening on the ground as in the sky. When not watching the display visitors can tour an exciting range of Zones, which will entertain, delight, inform, engage and excite. The VR Zone – Some of the world’s most innovative virtual reality technology and a state-of-the-art flight simulator will allow visitors to soar through the air with the full body suspension flight simulator and experience the sensation of flight using VR goggles. The Simulator Zone – This is an unmissable chance to enjoy the thrill of being a pilot without leaving the ground. The Next Level Simulator Cockpit is a professional-grade flight simulator, used and tested by professional pilots. Suitable for all ages, visitors can experience the thrill of the hot seat in this exciting show feature. The Gaming Zone – A special treat for gamers, this zone will feature aviation-related games, allowing players to show off their skills in a dedicated environment full of the latest technology. Kids Play Area – With magic shows, competitions, games, a carousel and a large play area featuring huge inflatable slides and obstacle courses, children will be spoiled for choice in a carnival atmosphere. Street Performers – Favourite characters from Disney and Star Wars join Iron Man, dancers and a crazy bouncing robot. Heritage Village – The Heritage Village is returning to BIAS with a wealth of Made in Bahrain arts and crafts that celebrate creativity and talent from around the island. Working in partnership with the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs, the Heritage Village is to feature a range of demonstrations from pottery to dressmaking and basket weaving, as well as traditional musical performances. Stage Show – Some of Bahrain’s most popular acts including Mo Zowayed, Banah and DJ Leil are to perform on stage at the heart of this year’s BIAS. They will be joined by an amazing line-up of entertainment and musical acts.
