32 November 2016 www.bahrainthismonth.com Theatre fans are in for a treat this month as UK-based S4K productions performs a rendition of JM Barrie’s classic story, Peter Pan. As a free-spirited and mischievous young boy who can fly and never grows up, Peter spends his never-ending childhood having adventures on the mystical island of Neverland as the leader of the Lost Boys. From the streets of Bloomsbury in London to Neverland and the deck of Captain Hook’s Jolly Roger, this is a colourful, fast-moving musical comedy adventure that features all the characters you know and love. Peter brings his new friends Wendy, John and Michael back to Neverland where they meet mermaids, Indian redskins and pirates. But when Wendy is captured by the fearsome pirate Captain Hook, Peter and his friends have to use all the cunning, trickery and bravery they have to save her. S4K creative director Julian Chenery explains how the show has already proved popular with audiences around the world: “Peter Pan is a terrific adventure story set in an imaginary far-away land where something new and exciting seems to happen every day. “Pan’s nemesis, Captain Hook, is one of literature’s great villains made memorable for his cavalier look, his fearsome hook and his fear of crocodiles; whereas his friends seem to be having fun every day. Most of all, Peter Pan is a story that reminds us we should never forget the child within us all, no matter how old we grow up to be!” The show will be performed twice daily. This is a perfect family adventure theatre production to enjoy and is suitable for ages three to 103. It costs BD15 and there is a family package of four tickets for BD50, as well as special offers for schools. Tickets are sold at Alosra supermarkets and Havajava Cafe inside Manazel.
