Younger children will enjoy looking for the dog Baloo in the pictures and older children (and adults) will enjoy the fun story and amazing photos. It’s a fictional story about real-life chocolate labrador Baloo (who was rescued in Bahrain). He trains new doggie recruits to his Baloo’s Buddies team and loses his favourite ball and goes to hunt for it. It’s a non-profit initiative with all proceeds from the sale of the book going to educational programmes at RIA Institute. At the launch, the children can meet Baloo and listen to the story (9.30am, 10.30am and 11.30am). The Bookcase, Budaiya Highway Gulf International Bank (GIB) announced its plans to organise a beach clean-up. Members of the public are invited to join GIB staff in spending the morning cleaning Nurana Island beach near Karranah in the Capital Governorate. The initiative is held in partnership with the Capital Municipality Council, Gulf City Cleaning Company and the Bahrain Beachcombers. To raise awareness of environmental pollution, a steel sculpture figure will be displayed on the beach and used to collect the litter. During the day, local graffiti artists will paint bins that will then stay on the beach to help sustain the change and create a long-term impact on the environment. A giant game of snakes and ladders with questions related to environment will be there for the kids, along with a sand sculpture artist. The event is open to the general public and everyone is invited to participate in the activity. The clean-up will be held from 9am to noon with refreshments available for volunteers to enjoy.
