132 November 2016 www.bahrainthismonth.com Acting as a perfect example of the excellent eateries that form the core of the gastronomic Mecca that is Adliya, Le Jardin at Ramada Bahrain offers great food for excellent value. Tucked away from the hustle and bustle of Block 338, this beautiful venue embodies a traditional French bistro with a contemporary atmosphere. The menu and decor fit the concept like a glove. Chef Biju Mohamed, the man who runs the show behind the scenes, is responsible for developing the menu. His extensive knowledge of European cookery ensures that guests get the most authentic French culinary experience. The menu is dotted with a plethora of appetisers, soups, main courses and desserts. While waiting for the food to arrive, my eyes wandered to the walls and light fixtures. Bold baroque prints accent a single wall and elegant chandeliers dangle from the ceilings. Natural light swathes most of the interior through the frosted glass windows, lending it a spacious, airy feel. A simmering French onion soup signalled the start of the meal. It was a deep golden concoction with julienned onion pieces and an island of bread topped with cheese in the middle. I am not the greatest fan of soup, but this was probably one of the best I’ve ever had. The Magique de Champignons arrived at the table next. The dish is comprised of quartered mushrooms sautéed in olive oil and mixed herbs, baked with cheddar cheese. It was love at first bite! The robust taste of the mushrooms was rightly balanced by the sharp cheddar. The next appetiser was the Rillettes au Saumon, a creamy delight of fresh and smoked salmon spread on slices of bread. I was amazed at how much character the smoked fish added to the already lovely texture of the spread. Chef Biju explained his penchant for innovative creations, coming up with new promotions every month to showcase the restaurant’s culinary repertoire. For November, all kinds of chicken delicacies can be sampled at the bistro. For main course, we tried the Entrecôte Bordelaise, a grilled seasoned rib-eye steak served with mashed potatoes, spinach and sauce Bordelaise. The steak was cooked medium-well and tasted scrumptious. My absolute favourite had to be the Sole Meuniere, pan-fried sole fillet with rice, haricot vert and parsley lemon sauce. The fish had a zesty twist owing to the topping, and combined in perfect harmony with the saffron-infused rice. No meal is complete without a sweet ending and the Moka Crème did not disappoint. It was a chocolate mousse and espresso shot melee, enough to wake you up after the feast. Le Jardin deserves some serious gastronomic credentials, providing a wonderful dining experience without wounding your wallet. Whether you are looking to go on a date with that special someone or fancy a quick bite in between errands, the restaurant is sure to satisfy even the most discerning palate. Call 17 742-000.
