BAHRAIN CITY CENTRE Bahrain City Centre’s City Walkers programme has over 2,000 registered members with more than 200 regulars starting off their day on the right foot. It has become a sociable way to improve fitness while catching up with friendly faces and including a bit of window-shopping fun. What’s more, there are special offers from participating retailers exclusively for City Walkers. So a solid workout can be rewarded with some guilt-free shopping. The programme takes places three times a week — on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays — from 9-10am. It is completely free. To join City Walkers, register at the customer service desk on the ground floor and get ready to be fit. All participants receive an exclusive City Walkers t-shirt after three sessions. “City Walkers is now the largest group exercise programme in the Kingdom of Bahrain,” says Paul Hamblin, City Walkers fitness trainer. “What makes it unique is that not only is it free, but it is focused on fun, friends, sweat and smiles. I call it the largest air conditioned group exercise studio in the world.” E Visit www.bahraincitycentre.com. Top Fitness Tips “Health and fitness becomes more scientific year after year. My advice is to leave the science to the fitness professionals. My philosophy to a healthy lifestyle and exercise is to keep it simple,” says Paul Hamblin, City Walkers fitness trainer. l Consult your doctor before starting any form of exercise programme. l Whether you are looking to lose weight, become stronger and fitter or just simply improve your quality of life, you must set goals and ensure they are realistic and achievable. l The first couple of months after starting a workout is your ‘most at risk’ period of time. This is the time you are most likely to quit or give up. Look for subtle changes in weight, size, overall fitness and most importantly your energy levels. l Experiment with every type of exercise that is available to you. This could be a gym, a group exercise environment, dance classes or martial arts. l Find out if you should work out on your own or with a friend. It has its pros and cons. Exercising with friends is motivating and fun. However, years of experience has shown that if one of you opts out, the other will too. l Group exercise is a fantastic way to get into working out. There’s a big group of people, all present for the same reason. It’s a winning formula. reportfeelinggoodlookinggood
