www.bahrainthismonth.com November 2013 113 The F-Type was officially launched at the 2012 Paris Motorshow, and it immediately set the motoring world ablaze. We’d been waiting for this news ever since a similar concept was unveiled at the Frankfurt Motorshow in 2011. “This is a truly impressive car, by any standards. It looks fast, it drives fast, and it is fast,” said Robin Colgan, managing director for Jaguar Land Rover Middle East and North Africa at the launch. “The V8 version will honestly take your breath away.” What makes the F-Type special is that, from its very conceptualisation, it was designed to be purely a sports car, with an almost fanatical dedication to the actual driving experience. It was designed, put it simply, to beat the competition! “The car is billed as the spiritual successor to the legendary E-Type, and indeed, it is the first two-seater front-engine rear-wheel-drive sports car since the E-Type,” added Anthony Raymond, Jaguar Land Rover general manager at Euro Motors. The F-Type will be offered with three engine variants: a 335hp 3-litre supercharged V6; a 375hp 3-litre supercharged V6; and last, but most certainly not least, a meaty 488hp 5-litre supercharged V8. And due to being made largely of aluminium, the F-Type’s lightweight means that it makes the absolute most out of the available power, handles more impressively, and keeps fuel consumption down. All reports so far shower glowing praise on the F-Type’s driving experience, and when combined with its relatively accessible price range, this means that this could be the car that steals customers from rivals the world over.
