The Bahrain Road Runners (BRR) Marathon predates the London Marathon! It was inaugurated 1979 to celebrate the visit of Queen Elizabeth II to Bahrain. The 1979 BRR Marathon had 15 participants and was won by Pete Rogers. In 1983, BRR vetran, Mustafa Fulad, became the first Bahraini to complete a full Marathon. If you’re not up to the full 42.2km, there will be a 5km side race, or just go along to enjoy the spectacle and cheer on the athletes. The main race starts at 6am and registration is open until March 3. There’ll be three DJs playing throughout the day to ensure your festival is swinging and the islands’ other entertainments are on offer too. The islands are open from 9am but the fun gets underway at midday and runs right through to 11pm. And the first 100 ladies to arrive go free. Entry is BD8, which includes return boat transfer. Get ready for one of the island’s biggest Holi celebrations as Coral Bay Beach Resorts throws its doors open for 10 hours of non-stop music with DJs Rink, Nirmal and NYK, who is known for sending crowds crazy with his best Bollywood EDM beats.
