As the movie progresses, he establishes why not many actors can adopt a character like he does. There’s enough vulgarity to force you to watch this one on your own. American Hustle Movies with an all-star cast tend to result in one actor outshining the others; little did I expect that star to be Jennifer Lawrence. Oddly, the main character played by Christian Bale is subtly sidelined, leaving it up to the other roles to unfurl the story. There is enough suspense to keep you interested throughout. WORTH WATCHING? There are many things that make a movie a success. Sometimes it’s the story; other times it’s the cast. Sometimes all there is to appreciate is the effort of the crew behind the scenes. With Dallas Buyers Club, every element surprises you with perfection. And it isn’t very often that this level of flawlessness hits the big screen. You can’t really tell who’s done a better job as an actor — Matthew McConaughey or Jared Leto. It’s just a matter of commending them both. VERDICT: A good movie of this kind comes along rarely.
