Today, it produces more than 912,000 metric tonnes of the high-grade aluminium per annum, with products including standard and T-ingots, extrusion billets, rolling slab, properzi ingots, and molten aluminium. Around 50 per cent of its output is supplied to Bahrain’s downstream aluminium industry, with the rest exported to regional and international customers in the Middle East, Europe, Far East, South East Asia, Africa, and North America. The Alba plant, which operates as per ISO 9001:2000 quality norms, comprises five reduction lines, cast houses, a dedicated carbon plant, a water desalination plant, a marine terminal and a 2,250 megawatt power plant, consisting of four power stations. Community builder Alba is a major contributor to the social, industrial and economic development of the Kingdom, employing around 3,000 people, out of which about 87 per cent are Bahrainis.
