Here’s a rundown on the ones you need to watch out for. Ramadan is not just a month of fasting. It is a time for family and friends to get together and celebrate the spirit of giving and sharing. And with it comes the never-ending bouts of shopping, be it for groceries or gifts. There are a number of shopping festivals targeting this buzz throughout the month, many carrying on until August. Star Events presents Kingdom Shopping Festival that is aimed at being an authentic family-oriented festival for all ages to enjoy. Its main goal is to support local talent. Held at the Bahrain Exhibition Centre on July 26-27 from 4-11pm, it offers raffle draws, face painting and henna designing. The Bahrain Shopping Festival, held on August 1-3, is a place where customers will encounter endless bargains, where retailers promote fantastic products, and where old and young, male and female can appreciate the joy of shopping. It is held a week before Eid holidays when everyone likes to splurge on new purchases and surprise their loved ones with gifts. Products on offer include clothing, toys, electronics, gardening equipment, household items, cosmetics and perfumes. From July 31 to August 3, Crowne Plaza Bahrain plays host to Layali Ramadania. The Holy Month gets better with this exhibition as it puts together exciting game shows, prizes and many surprises. Another five-star hotel, Mövenpick Hotel Bahrain, hosts three expos within the month. From July 27-30, take part in Ahlan Bel Eid. This is ideal for those who are having a hard time finding the perfect dress for the celebrations. On July 12 and 13, the hotel will see major footfall for the Blueish Expo. The Women’s World Expo takes place on July 17 from 8pm until 2am. Galleries and local entrepreneurs gather to display the best accessories for Ramadan and Eid. For the third consecutive year it brings together all entrepreneurs and home-run businesses to help them market their products and services. Do not miss the Ramadan Fair 2013 at Adhari Park from July 9 to 24. Reeling in shoppers from 6.30 to 11pm, the fair is a major participant in the shopping scenario. Over a hundred stalls are dedicated to garments, footwear, cosmetics, food and beverages. Children can enjoy the jumping castle or watch stilt walkers, clowns, magicians and mascots entertaining the crowd. There are many prizes to be won.
