Unique, chilling and scarily realistic, 28 Days Later is a spectacular horror flick. A Clockwork Orange (1971) Stanley Kubrick’s adaptation of the novel of the same name changed cinema forever. It was banned almost as soon as it came out, but Kubrick’s grim imagining of a futuristic London is hauntingly feasible. Malcolm McDowell’s performance is impeccable! MOVIE OF THE MONTH Monty Python’s Life of Brian (1979) RATING: DIRECTED BY: Terry Jones STARRING: Graham Chapman, John Cleese, Michael Palin, Eric Idle THE PLOT: Born on Christmas Day in the year 0AD in Judea, Brian (Graham Chapman) joins an Anti-Roman society and is mistaken for the Messiah. WORTH WATCHING? It caused a massive amount of controversy back in its day, but Monty Python’s Life of Brian encapsulates absolutely everything brilliant about British humour, with a non-stop array of gags and classic cinema moments. Even to this day, the movie remains a triumph of British cinema and one of the funniest comedies ever. It’s hard to find someone who hasn’t whistled Always Look on the Bright Side of Life. VERDICT: If there were ever a film that could sum up British comedy in a nutshell, it would be Life of Brian.
