Knowledge event Sponsored by the Universities of Brunel and Ahlia in conjunction with the British Council, the public event highlights the longstanding relationship between the two countries with regards to education, particularly in the areas of research and development. It’s a great opportunity presented to young British and Bahraini postgraduate students, giving them an insight on the avenues for further education and training. Engineering and technology conference Flying the flag for the best of Britain’s engineering, the Advanced Engineering and Innovation Conference will showcase the country’s leading role in the automotive and aerospace industries. Rolls-Royce gala dinner Hosted by Euro Motors at The Ritz Carlton-Bahrain Hotel & Spa, the event allows Brits to celebrate a brand that has exuded excellence, class and world-leading status for over 100 years. This part-public event takes place on January 15. British clubs and societies Bahrain’s British clubs and societies take part in the GBW by organising events. Attend a dinner at The British Club with guest speaker John Hartson on January 16. A celebrated Welsh footballer and a testicular cancer survivor, he shares his inspiring story at this black tie gala. The Dilmun Club will organise a day of family activities and entertainment, the date for which will soon be announced. Cocktail reception Unwind after a long day at the air show or just relax at this cocktail party hosted at the InterContinental Regency Hotel. The Great British Week | Venue? Various locations The Big Red Bus The iconic double-decker bus from London will make the rounds in the Kingdom throughout the week. Starting at the most unusual of locations for a press conference, the bus will continue its journey around the Kingdom stopping at various locations including schools and shopping malls. The latest addition in the London Routemaster fleet, Borisbus as it is often called, has the old design of an open hop-on hopoff rear end and meets the requirements for modern buses to be fully accessible.
