The landmark building is one of the finest museums of its kind in the world. The numerous archaeological excavations around the island resulted in a significant increase in the number of collections, and hence were moved to a much larger facility in Muharraq. The site was developed according to a UNESCO museum consultant’s proposal and the very innovative design of the Bahrain National Museum was created by Cowiconsult in collaboration with architects Krohn and Hartvig Rasmussen of Denmark.
