www.bahrainthismonth.com January 2014 115 James Claire We all dream of taking lunch in an exotic destination. Now thanks to this restaurant, a lunch in Mexico is close at hand. Recently refurbished, Casa Mexicana in Adliya is bright, modern and a respite from the usual, especially when you want a quick lunch with a difference. Open seven days a week for lunch and dinner, the restaurant offers a three-course set menu for BD5.500++, inclusive of soft drinks — hard to beat prices for the quality and style of international fare on offer. Enjoy a choice of three main courses — chicken, fish or beef — and dine in comfort with music that will get you dancing through the afternoon. The new sun-blushed red look is representative of Mexican chillies and its sun-drenched land. The interior will transport you to the Spanish haciendas of old Mexico. The bar area is now enclosed in glass, making it the smoking section. The comfortable seating offers a modern vibe in a lounge-like setting. The restaurant is one of the few venues in the Kingdom that has a kitchen led by Mexican chefs. The cosmetic changes are welcomed along with the return of Acapulco native, executive chef Romaldo Martinez and his extensive experience at developing enticing cuisine. This is a chef who understands the authenticity of his homeland creations, using traditional herbs, spices and cooking styles. With a menu that features nearly 70 dishes, Casa Mexicana serves up both regional and traditional favourites. With nachos, burritos and other Tex-Mex classics, the restaurant is especially known for their tacos stuffed with interesting ingredients. Only at Casa Mexicana will you find brochette de filete, tender beef dusted with crushed peppercorns and Cajuns spices skewered and flamed for utmost flavour. Sizzling fajitas, burritos, enchiladas and tacos speak for themselves, but if there is a Mexican favourite not on the menu, then request it from your waiter and Chef Martinez is happy to oblige. The restaurant’s kitchen team will offer live cooking stations for lunch and dinner during the 2014, and plenty of vegetarian dishes to ensure that every guest can enjoy in a truly Mexican treat. And what great meal ends without a touch of sublime sweetness. Try the fried ice cream, caramel bananas or tresmarias. Margarita specials Don’t miss Margarita Madness on Sundays and Tuesdays; get a half pitcher free for every full pitcher purchased. The live entertainment sets the mood for the evening. For many, singing along with resident musician Satur after a few margaritas is often the highlight of the Casa Mexicana experience. E Call 17 715-521 or 36 955-400.
