The Bahrain Food Festival, held as a part of Manama Gulf Capital of Tourism, will kick off on February 25 and continue until March 3. Held in the heart of the capital Manama, in Adliya Block 338; the eight-day festival will take you on a journey of Bahrain’s best hospitality outlets. With over 30 food and beverage stalls scattered around the area featuring some of the old favourites and new attractions, the festival aims to highlight the home-grown franchises located in the Kingdom. The Bahrain Food Festival will also feature outlets related to the industry such as kitchenware and so forth. The organising committee promises a fun-filled event packed with entertainment, cooking sessions and competitions. The festival will be held from 4pm-midnight. The Spring of Culture (SOC) is one of most exciting events in the Kingdom. In its 11th year, the festival will be held from February 25 until the end of April, with the opening act Caracalla Dance Theatre: Kan Ya Ma Kan. SOC has a jam-packed agenda of exciting shows with top artists that range from dance, theatre, art, music and song, to cultural activities held throughout the island. These happenings highlight the Kingdom’s rich cultural heritage and unique historic and civil landmarks, while at the same time presenting to residents and visitors of the country boundless opportunities for education, exploration and entertainment! There is something for everyone and attractions cater to all ages and families with this year’s line-up promising to be as incredible as ever. EVERYTHING FOOD A CULTURAL FEAST Enjoy a fun-filled day tasting the gastronomic delights and flavours of South Africa as the Bahrain Rugby Football Club hosts a traditional Potjiekos Cooking Competition. This is an open day event that will see South African cooks putting their culinary skills to the test. It will be held on February 26 from midday onwards. In South Africa, potjiekos, which literally translates to “small pot food”, is a stew that is prepared outdoors. It is traditionally cooked in a round, cast iron, three-legged pot, the potjie. The recipe includes meat and vegetables such as carrots, cabbage, cauliflower or pumpkin, as well as rice or potatoes, all slow-cooked with distinctive South African spices.
