The film is an American Ballet Theatre production, choreographed by Fredrick Ashton. This enduring one-act ballet is a comical tale of fairies, mismatched lovers and a mischievous sprite. It is a charming interpretation of William Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream. Robert Gottlieb of The New York Observer described the ballet as “so fluent, so charged, so natural that you know you’re in the hands of a master”. Bahrain is all set to host the Fifth Euromoney GCC Financial Forum, which will focus on the strategic opportunities in regional and global financial services against the background of volatile oil prices. BALLET FILM SCREENING MONEY TALK A whimsical theatrical production Kan Ya Ma Kan (‘Once Upon a Time’ in Arabic) comes to the island this month on February 25 at the Bahrain National Theatre as the opening act of the Spring of Culture 2016. It has played around the world since its premiere in 2012 at Beiteddine International Festival in Lebanon. The show features more than 75 performers of the Caracalla Company, run by a renowned creative team led by siblings Ivan Caracalla as director and Alissar Caracalla as choreographer. Through its sumptuous costumes, creative vision, unique dance style and harmonious melodies, the performance creates a grand spectacle in a powerful celebration of life that blends the disciplines of dance with the mystique of the Orient. Merging past, present and future, the first act of this theatrical trilogy features the acclaimed music of Scheherazade by Rimsky Korsakov and the majestic palatial court of King Shahrayar. The second act recounts extraordinary tales from A thousand and One Nights to the timeless composition of Maurice Ravel’s Bolero. The third and final part features Arabic cultural folk music and dance performed by a starstudded cast of contemporary Lebanese artists, including Hoda Haddad, Joseph Azar and Rifaat Torbey, under the artistic direction of Maestro Abdul Halim Caracalla.
