Bahrain International Exhibition and Convention Centre The Bahrain International Garden Show (BIGS) returns this month with a focus on investing in the Kingdom’s agriculture sector, which currently contributes less than one per cent to Bahrain’s gross domestic product. Agribusiness, as the sector is often referred, is a segment ripe for investment notes the general coordinator of BIGS, Shaikha Maram bint Isa Al Khalifa. “We will shed light on the many opportunities that exist in this sector at BIGS,” she says. “The show has grown from a local event to an international expo in recent years, with exhibitors coming from all over the world, and not just the GCC, to Bahrain to showcase their products and services.” The National Initiative for Agricultural Development, the BIGS organiser, aims to bolster investment in the Kingdom’s agriculture sector by encouraging an exchange of ideas and boosting contacts between both local and international participants. Visitors to the event, which is open to the general public, will be able to view a wide variety of consumer and industrial goods and services. More than 20,000 people are expected to attend the four-day event which will showcase innovative garden and landscaping technologies as well as the latest trends and equipment used within the industry. Products on view will include aquariums, sunshades, canopies, blinds, barbeque equipment, bird cages, playground equipment and pottery kilns. There will also be a host of seeds and plants available to view and buy. E Visit www.BIGS.com.bh.
