Visitors will be able to see animals, both contemporary and extinct, come to life before their very eyes. If that doesn’t spark your interest, you should know that you can also witness weather systems and even the historic moonwalk without blasting off into outer space. How about that for a day at the mall? The pioneering spectacle, a first of its kind in Bahrain, is a result of the shopping centre hosting National Geographic’s outof-this-world augmented reality show. Launched mid-January, try splashing around with dolphins, encounter a ferocious dinosaur, pet a leopard, meet an astronaut and even face a storm in a virtual environment. The concept works by placing a huge digital screen and highpowered camera in front of a marker that is stuck to the ground. As people step onto the marker, the content comes alive on the large screen in front of them. This kind of immersive technology is great for learning and it is sure to bring joy not only to the kids, but also to adults. “We are delighted to partner with National Geographic to bring to life some of its exclusive content to Bahrain,” says Robert Addison, general manager of Seef Properties. “By combining technology and the natural world it offers an extraordinary experience.” The project marks the advent of unique experiences for the entire family at Seef Mall with many more exciting out-of-thebox activities lined up during the course of the year. “In mixing education with entertainment, National Geographic has always inspired with its innovative approach. This show is yet another way of getting the message across to people and reminding them of how they can get involved,” adds Robert. If you want to witness the mind-blowing journey through space and time, head down to the west wing of the mall from 10am to noon or between 4pm and 10pm.
