BTM December 2011 147 motoringthismonth Like Rolls-Royce models that have gone before, the Ghost Extended Wheelbase stands true to the finest values and principles encapsulated by this famous brand. Euro Motors is proud to report the latest addition to its stable of iconic motor vehicles, the extended wheelbase edition of the Rolls-Royce Ghost. “Ghost Extended Wheelbase is the latest Rolls-Royce in a range of pinnacle luxury cars. It is a model of outstanding design and unrivalled luxury, with ride and handling credentials underpinned by the best in engineering expertise,” says Majid Al Zayani, marketing manager at Euro Motors. “This new ‘Roller’ delivers all the poise and dynamism enjoyed by discerning Ghost owners, with the indulgent experience of an extended wheelbase car. It is the very best of both worlds.” Instantly recognisable as a Rolls-Royce, the Ghost Extended Wheelbase is the latest beautiful model to proudly carry the famous Spirit of Ecstasy hood figurine, a mascot celebrating her centenary in 2011. And like its predecessors, it stands true to the finest values and principles encapsulated by this famous brand; supreme quality, effortless performance and the very pinnacle of automotive luxury. Hand-built in Goodwood, England, Ghost Extended Wheelbase is striking and agile. Its capacious interior comes courtesy of an increase in 170 mm length over the already ample interior space that rear-seat passengers enjoy in Ghost. A panoramic sunroof is a standard addition, enhancing the interior ambience, bathing occupants in natural light. The combination of interior space and performance present the best of both worlds to the world’s most discerning customers, without any hint of compromise. Ghost Extended Wheelbase retains the dynamic prowess upon which the Ghost reputation has been built, yet promises to tempt even the most ardent of drivers out of their front seat, to savour the passenger experience. Designed for carriage in style “For Ghost Extended Wheelbase we set out to emphasise the air of calm confidence and discretion achieved through the thoughtful balancing of attributes so typical of Rolls-Royce: An interior awash with natural light, cosseting occupants in luxury yet shielding them from the hustle and bustle outside,” says Alan Sheppard, interior designer at Rolls-Royce. However, there was a focus for a more contemporary, informal design to broaden the appeal of the Rolls-Royce brand. The result was Ghost, a breathtaking design, creating simplicity out of complexity, a theme that follows in Ghost Extended Wheelbase. An extended test drive The image of a chauffeur-driven Rolls-Royce sedately transporting its passengers to accomplish their daily routines does not quite fit with taking Ghost Extended Wheelbase for a quick spin around the F1 track at the Bahrain International Circuit. Nevertheless, whether sitting in the cockpit yourself or sitting in a rear seat with a fully-trained BIC instructor at the helm, the essence of luxury is not dissipated one iota. Whether it’s a casual drive or a ‘mad’ dash, the power and performance of the Ghost Extended Wheelbase is to be enjoyed.
