It’s a social network for people who want to achieve things and you can share your goals, get tips on how to break each down into steps and track your progress. What is it? Space Images is exactly what its name suggests: a collection of photos and diagrams related to space exploration and astronomy. It includes close-up shots from recent planetary missions, such as the New Horizons Pluto flyby, and has separate image galleries for each planet and many other celestial objects. The Good: The images included in the app are gorgeous and informative and should prove fascinating for anyone, whether child or adult, with an interest in planetary exploration. The app is free, and a relatively small download too (21MB), considering the number of images it has. The content is well presented and the app has good social media integration so you can share your favourite pictures. The Bad: The content’s focus is on unmanned spaceflight, so you won’t find photos of (or taken by) famous astronauts, which limits the scope somewhat. It’s also heavily focused on the wider solar system, so while there are plenty of photos of the moons of Jupiter, Saturn and other worlds, there is only a small handful of shots of our own moon. apps Verdict: A fascinating and detailed look at the wider universe. This app is for those who have always wanted to host a radio show or do a podcast, but found the entire process a bit overwhelming or just never had the opportunity.
