bahrainthismonth.com | NOVEMBER 2026 ITALY IN BAHRAIN 37 Under Two Suns With designs conceived in Bahrain and frames handcrafted in Italy, SUN SUNS is making its mark in luxury eyewear. Founder Sana Sultan shares the story behind a brand whose journey has taken it from Italian workshops to the runways of Milan and Paris. SUN SUNS is rooted in Ms. Sultan’s personal passion for sunglasses. “To me, they have always been an expression of personality, confidence and individuality,” she explains. Her ambition was to bring a Bahraini perspective to luxury eyewear, with Italian craftsmanship central to its production from the outset. Made in Italy The choice of where to manufacture reflected Ms. Sultan’s admiration for the country’s artisans. “For me, it was important to create something authentic, where every pair carried a story and the human touch of skilled artisans,” she notes. According to Ms. Sultan, that search led to a small town in Puglia, southern Italy, where the sunglasses are handcrafted. The brand’s website describes frames assembled by hand using traditional techniques, with Italian cellulose acetate chosen for its strength and flexibility. Product specifications list CR39 lenses with 100% UV protection. Vintage influences run through the collection, from the aviator-inspired Forte to styles including Diva, Dexter and Lea. Several designs are unisex, giving wearers scope to choose according to their own tastes. A Personal Connection The relationship between the two countries gained further significance when H.E. Andrea Catalano, the Italian Ambassador to the Kingdom of Bahrain, learned about the brand’s production connection. “He was genuinely enthusiastic about our journey and expressed his desire to support SUN SUNS and help share our story,” Ms. Sultan recalls. For the founder, his encouragement affirmed the cross-cultural relationship she had hoped to establish. She describes that ambition as “building a bridge between Bahrain and Italy through creativity, passion and craftsmanship.” On the Runway SUN SUNS’ Italian-made frames have since appeared on the international runway. The brand supplied eyewear for TELL THE TRUTH’s Spring/Summer 2027 menswear collection, DAVID, presented in Milan in June 2026. The collaboration continued with the fashion house’s Spring/Summer 2027 womenswear collection, DELILAH. SUN SUNS was the official eyewear partner for its presentations in Milan and Paris, extending the Bahraini brand’s presence across both fashion capitals. Those appearances give a tangible expression to the ambition behind SUN SUNS. As Ms. Sultan puts it, the journey is about “showing how a dream born in Bahrain can find its place on the international stage.” Find your shade at sunsuns.me
