UNTIL NOVEMBER 4 SEA FESTIVAL Bahrain Bay The third season of the Bahrain Sea Festival kick-started last month and continues until November 4 at the Bahrain Bay harbour area. The festival brings together local craftsmanship and entertainment in an effort to spread awareness among youth about the island’s aquatic legacy. The Bahrain Tourism & Exhibitions Authority has lined up some adventurous virtual reality deep-sea diving, dhowmaking demos, a wall aquarium, interactive sea floor, pearl jewellery exhibitions and sea-themed art displays and movies. The festival is on from 4pm to 10pm every day. Tickets are available online and at the festival entrance. Visit seafestival.bh FIVE PM AT BAB THROUGHOUT NOVEMBER ENTERTAINMENT MARKET Bab Al Bahrain The market area at Bab Al Bahrain will be bustling this month with an array of activities for family and friends to enjoy. Organised by the Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities, the weekly fun takes place every Thursday at 5pm, in the main open market space. Start your weekend with cultural shows, music, handicrafts, heritage, arts, food and a vibrant environment! There will be a handicrafts display on November 1 focusing on handmade products by Bahraini artists. The evening will also feature a live music performance. On November 8, visitors to the market can savour the flavours of various cuisines, while enjoying entertainment from a live musical band. Children will have an opportunity to learn about some of Bahrain’s prominent archaeological sites, at ‘The Little Guide’ workshop that will be conducted on November 15. Registration is required prior to this event. You can also get to watch local artists hand-sketch live, as art students from the University of Bahrain set up easel at the market on November 22. Towards the month’s end is another highly traditional event not to be missed! From the shores of Bahrain come the famous Fjiri folk tunes of native pearl divers, which will be performed by the Qalali Band on November 29. The event is held under the patronage of HE Shaikh Khalid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa, Deputy Prime Minister. This year’s forums are centred under the theme of ‘Building Communities, Developing Bahrain’, with a focus on the key sectors of education, healthcare, housing and transport. New and upcoming projects from major developers in Bahrain and Dubai will also be highlighted at the event.
