Society chairman, Ahmad Al Saloom, says: “This summit is a very important initiative towards enabling women economically and raising awareness in the community about women-related issues. Such events are in line with the society’s goals which focus on enabling women and creating business growth opportunities.” Society secretary, Ammar Awachi, adds: “The ALWANE summit will invite participants from 17 different countries in the Middle East and North Africa to contribute positively to Bahrain’s economy by spreading awareness among participants and demonstrating business facilities in the Kingdom. “It will create a unique platform for women entrepreneurs to explore and exchange business ideas and experiences in order to support women.” In the world of business, the playing field is often composed of big corporates and small and medium enterprises (SME’s) which often find it hard to not only survive but to access opportunities to succeed. With this in mind, under the patronage of Khalid Almoayyed, chairman of the Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI), the SME Committee has charted an event that will help stimulate growth for the private sector, showcase potential and create business opportunities for small entrepreneurs. The event, SME Majlis (B2B — Meet The Big Boys) will be a conduit between large corporates and institutions and the Kingdom’s SMEs. It aims to bolster ties, offer SMEs support and encourage partnerships beneficial to all involved. SME Committee chairman, Mohammed Farouk Almoayyed, says: “Local SMEs have always been a pillar of Bahrain’s economy, while their products and services have continuously been adding value to larger institutions, whether in the areas of enhancing efficiency, reducing costs or introducing new innovative methodologies to benefit larger private and public sector establishments. This event will help these SMEs to further benefit from having the endorsement of a prominent institution.” Each corporate will be assigned its own majlis wherein the prematched SMEs and the larger businesses can discuss various commercial possibilities giving the smaller operations the chance to pitch products and services while their larger colleagues have the opportunity to evaluate new innovations. The event will be held at the BCCI headquarters in Sanabis on Sunday, December 6, between 9.30am and 2pm.
