Amateur chefs around the Kingdom are sharpening their tools and perfecting their recipes in preparation for the Cucina Italiana Master Chef challenge. The award-winning restaurant, located in Juffair, has already started with the registration process. A total of 36 contestants will battle it out for the coveted title early next year and the winner will get to don the Master Chef apron as well as walking away with array of great prizes. The winning dish will also be part of Cucina Italiana’s 2016 menu. Starting with a series of elimination cook-offs, the competition will run January 17, 19, 24, 26, 31 and on February 2. The semi-finals and final will be held in February. These head-on challenges are designed to wean out the cooks and propel the potential chefs to the final round. Two winners from each of the six elimination rounds will compete in quarter finals, from which the winners will progress to the semi-finals. The grand finale will see four contestants compete against each other and the clock. Last year Pete Lyons, general manager of Bahrain Family Leisure Company, hosted the event and kept everyone entertained with his quips. Friends and family of the contestants are encouraged to come along and cheer for the competitors. Participation in the Master Chef competition costs BD15.
