Crowne Plaza Bahrain Hotel A Salute to Service Bahrain’s British community gathers this month for the annual fundraiser, the Poppy Ball, in aid of the Chelsea Pensioners appeal. The Bahrain British Business Forum (BBBF), in association with Bahrain British Association from Saudi, hosts this black-tie gala at the Crowne Plaza Bahrain Hotel on November 7. The event is celebrated around the world to raise funds for the UK charity that provides support to millions. This year the BBBF honours Chelsea pensioners Albert Willis, Simon de Buisseret and Barry Prior. Remembrance Day records the end of the First World War at 11am on the 11th day of the 11th month and is honoured throughout the world, and Bahrain is no exception. During their visit to the Kingdom the pensioners will attend many functions, including school visits, British Embassy functions and trips to local places of interest. The highlights of the visit will be laying a wreath at a memorial service to mark Remembrance Day and being VIP guests at the Poppy Ball. The event will commence at 7pm with a welcome reception and a buffet dinner, followed by a DJ from 9.30pm till late. Tickets cost BD30 for BBBF members and partners, and BD35 for non-members.
