May 2018 7 May sees the beginning of The Holy Month and, as always, I would like to take this opportunity to wish all our readers a heartfelt Ramadan Kareem. A period of reflection and fasting, this special time offers the ideal opportunity for meeting with friends to break the fast and for seeking ways to give back to the community. Even for those who are not fasting, Ramadan, with its strong local traditions, is the ideal time to try out delicious dishes that are not available at other times of the year. Many of the island’s hotels erect elaborate tents and the food and beverage sector goes out of its way to put on a show with sumptuous Iftars, Ghabgas and Suhoors in abundance. This month’s special feature gives a comprehensive round-up of what’s on offer at some of the Kingdom’s favourite venues. And, while things will certainly become a little quieter during Ramadan, there are still plenty of events in the run-up including the annual Heritage Festival, which gives the chance to connect with traditional Bahraini craftspeople and performers, and several seasonclosing parties. I am particularly excited about our lead interview this month, for which I visited the home of the new chairman of Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Sameer Nass.
