Moyez Kassam, 21CC Managing Partner & Janet Donnelly, Human Synergisitics Associate Consultant The Bahrain Association of Banks (BAB) in partnership with 21st Century Consulting (21CC) held a seminar to explain how organisational culture, commonly defined as ‘the way we do things around here’, develops with or without conscious effort to become the DNA of every organisation. During the event, 21CC managing director, Moyez Kassam, demonstrated why culture is often misinterpreted or misunderstood using a well accepted model created by one of the forefathers of ‘organisational theory’ that describes how culture develops over time. Extensive independent global research was presented, which showed that lack of focus or understanding of culture is one of the primary factors that contributes to a poor success rate of change initiatives, merger and acquisition deals and substantially lower employee engagement. The link to sustainable business performance has demonstrated extensive research that showed the substantial differences in business performance between organisations which had cultures that adapted to internal and external forces, and ones that did not. StartPoint managing director and Human Synergistics associate consultant, Janet Donnelly, introduced and demonstrated a scientifically proven and validated approach for qualitative and quantitative assessment of organisational culture. She explained the need to establish an organisation’s ‘ideal / intended’ culture and to clearly identify ‘causal factors / levers-of-change’ in order to align current culture with the ideal culture state. Having a snap shot of the current position in terms of current culture and organisational effectiveness is imperative in today’s challenging business environment and provides the baseline for comparison and progress evaluation over time. Case studies from different industries were presented during the event to demonstrate the impact culture change has had on organisational performance. Email [email protected].
