bahrainthismonth.com | JUNE 2026 UK IN BAHRAIN 38 Football’s New Home The British Club of Bahrain is bringing World Cup fever indoors with Bahrain’s official Fan Zone, with big screens and every match shown live. The iconic club, in Um Al Hassam, is preparing to become one of the island’s liveliest football hubs as it gears up or the 2026 FIFA World Cup, running from June 11 to July 19. With Scotland back at the tournament for the first time since 1998, there is already a special buzz around the Club, particularly for Club Manager Daniel McRae. Mr. McRae says: “It’s exciting times at the British Club with both Scotland and England in the competition. I am really looking forward to it. I would love to meet England in the final, but realistically, I think the winners are going to be Brazil this year. I think they’re a dark horse.” The Club will be showing every game live, creating a dedicated football atmosphere for members, guests and visiting fans throughout the tournament. The centrepiece will be a mini indoor stadium, while the theatre room will feature a large screen for matchday viewing in a comfortable, cooler setting. Club Chairman Mark Herbert says the British Club has a proud record of creating memorable World Cup fan experiences. Mr. Herbert says: “The Club has a history of Fan Zones for World Cups and they have been very successful. This World Cup we have converted the QE2 hall for the fan zone with the external big screen being moved inside onto the stage for a cooler environment.” For Mr. Herbert, the Fan Zone is about more than the matches themselves. It is about bringing people together through the shared emotion, rivalry and excitement of the world’s biggest football event. He says: “Football has always been a medium to bring people together, a universal language that football fans from all over the world understand. This World Cup, if you’re away from home or at home, come and let the British Club be your place to watch the beautiful game.” With every match live, a purpose-built indoor set-up and a welcoming club atmosphere, the British Club is ready to be Bahrain’s home for World Cup football.
