Bahrain-based film producer, Esky Dubois, showcases her film titled Tikur Engda, at the Seef Cineplex this month. Tikur Engda meaning ‘unexpected guest’ tells a tale about Sara, a successful journalist who was adopted at a very young age from Ethiopia. She was challenged to return to Ethiopia after 25 years to look for her biological parents, in a quest to find answers to all her questions. Sara’s story unfolds in a twist of love, betrayal, culture, family and the ongoing battle to find her identity. Based on a true story about adoption, the family drama is a 110-minute-long film, shot in Ethiopia. “The role of Sara personifies the lives of adopted children everywhere, from any ethnicity and background. Regardless of how successful a person is in life, there is always an affinity towards family,” says Esky Dubois, the films co-producer. “In this story, and in the life of any adopted child, the concept of ‘family’ plays an even greater role.” About the Producer Esky resides in Bahrain with her husband and two kids. It has taken her almost two years to produce the film. Among her many talents and varied interests, she is in to organising events, fashion shows and has also been a model herself. Esky keenly looks out for the welfare of the Ethiopian community, being one of its community leaders. She is also a member of the Migrant Workers Protection Society, as the assistant head of the action committee. Screening of the film takes place at Seef II, at 3pm on June 14 and 15 and at 7pm on June 20.
