Alliance Française (AF) is the largest network of French language and cultural centres in the world with over 1,000 chapters internationally. If that isn’t impressive enough, then the fact that over 136 countries have at least one city with an AF centre should be. In the Kingdom, the French presence is a strong one. The AF of Manama is a non-profit, educational, cultural association headed by a Franco-Bahraini committee. It is the leading centre in Bahrain for French language services and francophone resources. The goal is to enrich the lives of people living in Bahrain by offering the chance to connect with people of different backgrounds and cultures in order to better understand and appreciate the greater global community. Their services include French language courses for children and adults, cultural activities, a state-of-the-art library and an outreach. The AF of Manama is the only testing centre in Bahrain to offer language certifications. Its events held during the course of the year include cinema soirées, exhibitions, lectures, quizzes, French food tasting and concerts. Seasonal activities For this summer, the centre is going to offer a weekly summer camp for kids and intensive general French courses for beginners of all ages. The ‘Frenchtastic’ Summer Camp, which starts from July 6, is a wonderful way for your kids to have fun while meeting new friends and discovering a new language.
