www.bahrainthismonth.com July 2013 137 Inspired by fighter jet cockpit gadgetry, the latest instalment of limited edition timepieces from this well-known brand is now available. Top Gun Timepieces ASIA JEWELLERS With three new limited edition models to choose from, IWC Schaffhausen’s Top Gun watch family gets stronger. Taking inspiration from the glowing cockpit interiors, these watches come in ceramic (zirconium oxide) cases with the back and crown made of titanium. Big Pilot watch This watch is a combination of the clear-cut instrument look of the forties and cutting edge technology of today. Fully wound, the IWC-manufactured 51111 calibre, consisting of 311 com¬ponents, will keep its movement alive for over a week. The front glass is built to withstand sudden drops in pressure, reinforcing the fact that the watch was made for flying. Detailing such as the green hands, indices and tiny silhouette of an aircraft at the rear end of the seconds’ hand, offer an exceptional design and technology innovation. The Top Gun logo, on the reverse side of the watch, is limited to only 500 pieces, making this watch a valuable possession. Big Pilot perpetual calendar With its red hands and indices, this watch exudes power just from its appearance. The striking timepiece with its futuristic build and technological excellence is guaranteed to send the pulses of watch devotees soaring high. The technical complexity includes a perpetual calendar with a four-digit year display, a moon phase display and a seven-day power reserve. The perpetual calendar takes into account all the leap years in the Gregorian calendar until 2100, while the moon phase display represents the state of the moon in the northern and southern hemispheres. The watch contains one of IWC’s largest automatic movements, the 51614 calibre, with the remarkable Pellaton winding system. Pilot chronograph Made to endure complex airborne manoeuvres, this watch packs a punch with its blue hands and indices, magnetic resistance and a front glass secured against drops in pressure. Loaded with the IWC-manufactured 89365-calibre movement, featuring a 68-hour power re¬serve, it is an equally robust mechanism inside. The dial is designed around a cockpit, all the way down to the date display, resembling an altimeter. The central chrono¬graph hand shows recorded times in seconds, while the hand in the subdial at 12 o’clock shows the number of elapsed minutes. Meanwhile, the integrated flyback function allows the stopwatch hand to jump back to zero and immediately start another timing sequence. E Call 17 535-344. Big Pilot Watch
