www.bahrainthismonth.com July 2013 121 james claire Adding yet another element of fun to its offering, Lanterns Restaurant and Lounge this month launches its rooftop venue — the Sky Terrace Lounge. Relax under the stars in quiet reflection or in the presence of friends and loved ones as you are soothed by the melodic beats of the resident DJ at Lanterns Restaurant and Lounge, in Adliya’s 338 district. Renowned for over 20 years for its food and catering, the second Lanterns outlet has proved to be a huge success since its opening last year. We may have waited a long time for the second coming of this ‘fixture’ on the restaurant scene in the Kingdom, but it has certainly been worth it. With indoor dining replete with antiques of old India, the ambience is one of light-hearted elegance combined with charming touches of Indian street scenes. Intermingled amongst these is the more serious business of fine dining. Upon entry one is struck with the open-air garden patio, its water features and natural grass, where dining and imbibing are welcome. When the humidity rises the garden is cooled by a silent mist of spray, which reduces the air temperature by several degrees. The final addition to this venue is the rooftop Sky Terrace Lounge, accessible by stairs from just inside the front door. The lounge is open on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday nights for the time being, with seating for 70 in comfortable lounge chairs and sofas under a silken roof and mood lighting. A bar and resident DJ booth add to the vibe as you enjoy the cool night breezes in the company of friends and family. The lounge can also be reserved for private parties and functions, and this area of the restaurant enjoys its own bar snacks menu. “We work hard to deliver the five key elements of a successful dining experience. Quality food is tantamount, an enticing ambience, pricing, attentive service and well-trained staff all play a part,” says Lalit Kapur, the owner of Lanterns restaurant. “Within the Adliya outlet we deliver these in multiple ways within the one larger venue.” Offering some of the finest Indian cuisine in the Kingdom, Lanterns in Adliya is spread across 800 square metres and is by no means just another traditional Indian restaurant. Instead, the chefs showcase the modern fusion of Indian cuisine with universal flavours; an à la carte menu, tapas-style dining, brunch and buffets fit perfectly alongside each other to create a unique dining experience. Fitting snugly into Adliya as if it has always been housed there, Lanterns has not just aged well from its original outlet on the Budaiya Highway. Like a fine vintage it matures over time and just gets better and better. E Call 17 250-999 (Adliya) or 17 590-591 (Budaiya).
