www.bahrainthismonth.com July 2013 109 The previous generation of the Grand Cherokee, first released back in 2010, was already a huge success. It had the looks, the luxury, and the off-road capability to really make its mark in the mid-size SUV segment, winning itself no less than 30 awards for best-in-class and off-road capabilities across the world, making it the most awarded SUV ever. As the old adage goes, if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it! So, for 2014, we see much of the same in the Grand Cherokee, especially in terms of styling — it’s the same size and shape, only the front and rear lights have been modified slightly, with bi-xenon headlights with LED daytime-running lights at the front. The effects are subtle, but pleasing. The six-speed automatic has now been replaced with an eight-speed auto with paddleshift, helping drivers get more power and torque out of the engine at any given speed. The engine line-up is now a 3.6-litre V6 Pentastar, and Chrysler’s awesome 5.7-litre V8 HEMI, both of which offer improved fuel economy for the 2014 model year. “Styled for, and targeted at, customers in the important midsize SUV segment and with a high level of equipment on offer, drivers across the Middle East will find it even more of a pleasure to drive — on any and all roads, on the most demanding trails and in all weather conditions,” said Godwin D’Cruz, sales and marketing manager at Ahmed Zayani & Sons. The Grand Cherokee’s excellent off-road capability comes courtesy of its award-winning Quadra-Trac and Quadra-Drive 4x4 systems, with the Selec-Terrain system allowing drivers to adjust the Jeep to the right surface type for their needs. Changing surface types is as simple as stopping the vehicle, turning the knob, and any obstacle is overcome by gently applying the required amount of power and letting the traction control system do the rest. Power is distributed to the wheels that can most use it, and the Jeep climbs over rough terrain with ease. Quadra Lift, which can raise the suspension for more heavy off-road use, is available as an option on the Limited trim level, and standard on the Overland trim and above. And finally, Hill Descent Control allows you to drive down muddy and uneven surfaces with minimal fuss. No braking is needed — simply engage the HDC, drive over the edge of the slope, and let the Jeep maintain a constant and controlled speed all the way down! The Jeep Grand Cherokee is a vehicle that will go anywhere, and do it in comfort and style! Look out for fantastic offers on Jeeps at Ahmed Zayani this Ramadan. E Call 17 238-822.
