84 January 2016 www.bahrainthismonth.com dining Home to some of the most delectable Middle Eastern flavours, Lumee Street Café celebrates its first-year anniversary this month by introducing a host of new offerings for its loyal customers. These include a variety of new breakfast, lunch and dinner choices added to the menu and the muchanticipated delivery service set to launch in January. Located in Al A’ali mall, this quirky café-cum-deli is named after the Bahraini slang for lemons and limes and is popular for its flavour-packed Middle Eastern cuisine. From classic hummous and Bahraini tikka to unique dishes such as spicy mattai salad and quinoa taboule, Lumee Street Café serves a mix of traditional food with a contemporary twist. The new menu has been carefully crafted with the help of the restaurant’s experienced head chef, Simon Fernandez. “It’s been an exceptional experience to be part of Lumee Street Café and watch it grow into one of Bahrain’s favourite restaurants,” he says. “It’s such a privilege to celebrate this success with our customers by adding even more, healthier options and crafting age-old recipes with a unique slant.” Starting with the most important meal of the day, Lumee serves breakfast from 8.30am to noon. The breakfast menu includes fresh oven-baked fatayer with new flavourful fillings such as qishta glazed with honey and multigrain fatayer filled with ricotta cheese and spinach. The restaurant also offers a variety of tasty egg dishes such as baked cheese and tomato omelette and spicy fried eggs. For a more classic Middle Eastern breakfast, customers can choose refreshing dishes like labnah with za’atar, balaleet and Lumee’s signature homemade baked beans. Lunch includes savoury mezze such as fresh potato chaps filled with vegetable or minced lamb with smoked tomato dip and grilled vine leaf parcels. You can also choose from any of the all-day menu selections such as street grills and bakhsam — open-faced sandwiches with root vegetables crisps. From 6.30pm onwards, sample dishes such as duck shawarma, black lime baby chicken or juicy beef short ribs. For healthier choices, Lumee has prepared a new line of fresh cold-pressed juices named after their rich colours. The all-pure red, green, purple, orange and white fusions are carefully blended to preserve nutrients and satisfy taste buds. The restaurant also gives you the option to opt for whole-grain bread and brown rice as sides. In addition, Lumee is introducing a new selection of desserts such as crispy balaleet domes, brownie and date sundaes and honey pudding with candied almonds. The restaurant’s special first-year anniversary celebrations don’t stop there. You can now enjoy Lumee’s eclectic flavours in the comfort of your own home or office with the new delivery service. “We wanted to start Lumee’s second year by thanking our customers and making sure they can enjoy Lumee’s flavourful food even when they can’t make it to the restaurant and we’re really excited to start taking orders from Mid-January,” says Hamad Rashed, director, Al Abraaj Restaurants Group.
