The fair will be held from January 26 to February 4 at the BIECC, under the patronage of the Bahrain Ministry of Industry and Commerce. Now in its 27th year, the Autumn Fair is the most widely attended exhibition in Bahrain and is expected to attract over 200,000 visitors. This year, visitors can look forward to more choice, new exhibitors, unique products and thousands of potential bargains. Over 750 exhibitors from 21 countries will showcase products from across the globe during this 10-day event, ranging from speciality foods, fashion and furniture to technology, toys, textiles and more. Additional entertainment includes an outdoor children’s play area, a live band and costume characters. The entire exhibition centre will be transformed into a colourful bazaar with local and international traders bringing their country’s best exports. The national pavilions include countries such as China, Egypt, India, Kuwait, Lebanon, Pakistan, Turkey, Thailand, Syria, UAE and Yemen. Entry costs 800fils and is free for children under five. The exhibition will open daily to the public from noon-10pm on January 26; 10am-2 pm and 4pm-10 pm on January 27and 28; noon-10pm on January 29; 10am-2pm and 4pm-10pm from January 30-February 2; and 10am-10 pm from February 3-4. All you need to do is bring your own dog or pre-book one of the BSPCA’s resident canines and you’re ready to strut your mutt. This year’s event will be extra special as all former BSPCA shelter dogs are invited to return to their roots for a reunion at the AWC as well as join in the fun of the walk and meet some new friends. It costs BD10 to participate and register your dog. The registration desk opens at 9.30am on the day and the walk starts at 10.30am, with a 2km walk for the younger children and 4km for older kids and adults. There are first, second and third prizes for the most sponsorship money raised, with a fantastic bike for the winner, donated by Skate Shack. There will also be other prizes, including one for the Best Dressed Human and the Best Owner/ Pet Lookalike. Paddle pools for the dogs, raffles, prizes, stalls and refreshments will be available as well as giveaway goodies. Visitors can also take a ‘selfie’ of themselves and their four-legged friend in the BSPCA Instagram photo booth. There will be a competition on Facebook for the best photo sent in, with the winner featuring in the BSPCA’s 2017 calendar. All proceeds go towards running the shelter and funding BSPCA’s free Catch, Neuter, Vaccinate and Return (CNVR) scheme for cats and dogs. The BIKC will be home to more action-filled karting fun as it hosts the Bahrain SWS Endurance Championship 2015/2016, where drivers will get a chance to test their skills. The ESWS Round 2 (3 Hours Race) will be held on January 30 and will see teams compete for a chance to reach the SWS finals. Team classifications include Professional, Nations and Corporates.
