The Bahrain International Airshow will take place from January 21-23, 10am to 6pm, at Sakhir Airbase, under the patronage of His Majesty King Hamad. Organised by the Ministry of Transportation and Telecommunications in co-operation with the Royal Bahraini Air Force and in association with Farnborough International, the event promises to be a thrilling experience for the entire family, featuring activities and entertainment for everyone. In the air, visitors can enjoy some of the world’s most remarkable flying demonstrations, with aerobatic display teams including the Russian Knights, the Saudi Hawks, UAE’s Al Fursan and India’s Sarang Helicopter Display Team, providing spectacular thrills for viewers who can watch everything from the grandstand. On the ground, visitors can play exciting games such as Bubble Bash football, where teams try to score goals and stay on their feet while wearing large bubbles. They can also try their flight skills at the CXC Flight Simulator, piloting commercial airliners, fighter jets, private planes and helicopters. Families can ride in a Motion Capsule simulator, which will take them through an exciting and thrilling flight adventure. Walking around the event, entertainment will find you! Don’t be surprised if a street magician approaches you ready to mystify or if you encounter some surprises along your way. There will be a jump rope crew turning a childhood pastime into an impressive show. For excellent photo opportunities, there will also be creative graffiti art, 3D street art, stilt walkers and Instagram-able giant BIAS 2016 sculptures. Visitors will be spoilt for choice with the food and beverage options that can be found throughout the event as well as some light shopping at the retail kiosks. They can also head down to the Heritage Village for a dose of culture. The little ones will be kept entertained with an amusing magic show, competitions and games. Children’s activities also include face painting, a swing chair carousel and a large play area featuring huge inflatable slides and obstacle courses. There will be a variety of on-stage performances and shows throughout the threeday event. In the day time, international illusionist One with Magic, will have even the most notorious skeptics amazed, along with two live musical performances daily at 4pm. Highlights include Bahrain-based talents like the progressive fusion folk band Majaz; the original Arabic-rapping hip hop sensation The Mystro; and Havaneros Band, who will be bringing people to their feet with upbeat Latin music. The headliners include Hanan Redha, who will entertain the crowds with her dulcet tones; Kuwaiti hip hop star Daffy, performing his hit song Samboosa with DJ Outlaw; and bringing the week to a close will be Bahrain’s own DJ Jackson. Tickets can be purchased from all Batelco outlets, priced at BD10 for adults and BD5 for children up to 16 years. A five-per-cent discount is also available on group bookings of 20+ tickets.
