Local talent has been thriving at this popular ongoing event, The Nest, presented by Al Riwaq Art Space which has been bringing art to Bahrain’s public spaces since 2010. This year’s edition continues until January 9 and, once again, concentrates on promoting the talent and potential of Bahraini art and design across the region. Following the growing success of its events, The Nest returns to Adliya, combining Market 338 and Alwan338. A celebration of public art and design, The Nest transforms the Block 338 area into a hotspot, focusing on the theme of Difference and Repetition. The programme of events includes public art and design installations; live music performances; art and design talks; film screenings; a market for local and regional designers; exhibitions and workshops that reflect current topics of contemporary design and its related disciplines. Making use of found and recycled materials, The Nest turns Adliya’s public square into a cosy hideout – ‘The Park’ includes a stage for music performances, a seating area, a cinema screen, a kids’ playground and a corner café that is open daily from 4.30pm-8.30pm on week days and during The Nest timings at weekends. The Nest has commissioned several art projects from local and international artists that take place in the Block 338 area creating an interaction with specific locations. The music programmes include ‘Aalaat’ on January 7, from 8pm-9pm, ‘Swing Revue’ from 9pm-10pm and various buskers performing every weekend.
