Dress in your finery for a great night out that includes a sumptuous buffet dinner with selected beverages, fantastic entertainment to help you dance the night away and an exciting auction. Tickets cost BD30 each and can be bought at the BSPCA Thrift Shop in Budaiya, the Animal Welfare Centre (AWC) in Askar, or at either the British or Dilmun Club receptions (cash only at the clubs). Tables are for eight people, so invite your friends and help raise money for a good cause. All proceeds will go towards the maintenance of the BSPCA AWC and care of the animals sheltered there, and towards the Catch, Neuter and Return programme. The first Spartan to be run over two days, the race will involve Sprint, Kids’ and ‘Beast’ distances – the Spring face is 5km with 20 obstacles, the race for four to 15 year olds is 1.5km with seven obstacles and the Beast is 20km with 30 obstacles. Competitors run in mud and water, up hills, under barbed wire and over fire! For spectators, the going is a bit easier – though there are some challenges to be tried alongside lots of entertainment, food and sponsor giveaways. Their music is a product of exceptional training under their paternal grandmother, Smt Shanthi Jayaraman, and presently under the tutelage of globally acclaimed musician, composer and director Chitravina Shri N Ravikiran.
