games Games review What is it? Set in the tranquil Mediterranean island republic of Medici, a land crumbling under the brutal rule of general Di Ravello, you once again assume control of hero Rico Rodriguez – a man on a mission to liberate his homeland by any means necessary. With more than 400 square miles of utter freedom from sky to seabed and a massive arsenal of weaponry, gadgets and vehicles, players can unleash chaos in the most creative and explosive ways they can imagine. Gameplay: For pure mindless open-world fun, Just Cause 3 is unparalleled in the gaming world, even against similar franchises such as Grand Theft Auto. Rico is a cross between a macho action star and a comic book character, so while the game is grounded, the almost superheroesque way in which he can use his wingsuit, grappling hook and parachute on a whim gives you a sense of freedom you don’t get in more realistic titles. This map is also massive, so it’s a very fast and effective traversal system of the mountains, beaches and buildings that dot the landscape. Graphics: The beauty of Medici is almost as insane as Rico’s exploits. Lush green fields give way to golden beaches, touched by turquoise sea. Considering the size of the game, it’s quite a feat that it can be so consistently beautiful, although the caveat of this is the crippling loading times. You’ll find yourself cursing in-mission deaths not because of having to try again, but because you’ll be subject to loading times bordering on a whole minute. There are a couple of bugs, but nothing too distracting considering how consistently well the game runs. Quantum Break Quantum Break blurs the line between television and gameplay, integrating the two into one seamlessly immersive sci-fi drama experience. This action-packed, fast-paced game lets you bend and shape time in order to survive. Master unique powers, bending and warping time to outmanoeuvre and outwit the enemy. How you play the game shapes a personalised version of the television show. Watching the show gives you strategies and insights that will impact the way you play the game and help you discover unique content. Gone Home Gone Home is a conceptual simulation game somewhat themed after classic adventure titles where how you interact with space around your characters determines how far you progress in the game. This title is all about exploring a modern, residential locale and discovering what happened there by investigating a deeply interactive game world. It aims to push for true simulation, both in the sense of the physics system but also in allowing the player to open any door or drawer they’d logically be able to and examine what’s inside, down to small details. Street Fighter V The iconic arcade side-scrolling fighting series returns with its fifth main instalment. Featuring 16 characters, a combination of classic scrappers like Ken and Ryu and newcomers, Street Fighter V pits two fighters against each other at a time, who use a variety of attacks and special abilities to knock out their opponent. The game features the EX gauge, which builds as the player lands attacks and can be used to either power up special moves or perform super combos known as Critical Arts. The ‘V-Gauge’ builds as the player receives attacks and adds three new techniques: V-Skills, V-Reversals, and V-Triggers.
