A unique event and a first for the region, the Bahrain National Superbike Championship (BSBK) kicked off the season with its first round last month. The second round is due to be held on February 12 at the BIC. The event consists of 12 races over six months, in which 15 riders battle it out for the Bahrain Superbike Champion title. The competition is set up in an ‘arrive and ride’ format where contestants lease the bike (a Ducati 899 Panigale) for the season, enabling them to focus on improving their racing skills and not have to worry about parts, maintenance and tyres. All races will be held in the inner circuit at BIC which offers a fantastic vantage point for the audience. This will also give the crowd unprecedented access to the pit garages and the contestants, providing a family oriented event for supporters. The BSBK is the first organised superbike championship in the Kingdom with the collaboration of motorcycle organisations and enthusiasts. The event is supported by the Bahrain International Circuit and the Bahrain Motor Federation (BMF) The calendar is set for the following races: Round 3 - March 4, Round 4 - April 22, Round 5 - May 6, Round 6 - TBC.
