86 February 2012 BTM SERIES/SPECIALS American Idol (Season 11) Emmy Award-winner; America’s biggest talent show returns for an eleventh season. With The X-Factor making a successful debut in 2011, American Idol will be pulling out all the stops to ensure it retains its TV talent show crown as the search for the next idol begins. This ‘mockumentary’ series explores the issues faced by young males in the 21st century. Smallville (Season 10) It is the final season of the Emmy Award-winning series. The show follows a young Clark Kent who struggles to find his place in the world as he learns to harness his alien powers for the good while dealing with the typical troubles of teenage life in Smallville. The Closer (Season 7) Deputy police chief Brenda Johnson runs the priority homicide division of the LAPD in an unorthodox style. Her innate ability to read people and obtain confessions helps her and her team solve the city’s toughest and most sensitive cases. MOVIES The Fighter Mark Wahlberg and Amy Adams, and Academy Award winners Christian Bale and Melissa Leo star in this remarkable film. Based on a true story, two brothers, against all odds, come together to train for a historic title that has the power to reunite their fractured family and give their hard-luck town what it’s been waiting for — pride. The drama follows the story of boxer ‘Irish’ Micky Ward’s unlikely road to the world light welterweight title. His Rockylike rise was shepherded by half-brother Dicky, a boxer-turnedtrainer on the verge of being knocked out by drugs and crime. Dubbed by many as the best sports movie of the decade, the biographical sports drama film was directed by David O. Russell.
