Those who can enjoy the true essence of the islands will love the bar-lounge that hosts their Cuban resident band, Riviera, who takes you to the Caribbean shores with their vibrant rhythms and romantic tunes. A specially set four-course menu makes its way to your table on this night. One of the dishes will be the ‘Mar Y Tierra’ (sea and earth), which is a combination of a grilled lobster tail, a filet mignon and wild mushrooms accompanied with mashed carrots, celery quenelle and their signature Hawaiian potatoes. Restaurant regulars already know that their appetisers are something you must never miss. This time they have cooked up special tidbits exclusively for the occasion. Indulge in coconut prawns, crispy vegetable spring rolls or konakona chicken lollipops for a great start to the night. Everything on this night is set for two, especially their cocktail, which will be served in a seashell bowl meant for sharing. Priced at BD22++ per person, the candlelit dinner isn’t the only highlight here on Valentine’s Day. They’ve also arranged for a photographer to take a picture of your Trader Vic’s experience, which they will give you in a beautiful frame before you leave. Guests will receive complimentary roses and chocolates as well. An acquired taste Mai-Tai Lounge is an easy favourite amongst the people of Bahrain. This isn’t surprising considering its unique setting. Where else could you find a lounge with a stilt-house setup and its own exclusive lagoon all while being located only steps away from the beach? Offering a view of The Ritz-Carlton’s magnificent island, this venue just saw the success of its first big event of the year on February 1. Scheduled to be a quarterly event, Mai-Tai Lounge has established the cigar night where aficionados can take part in a degustation of limited edition cigars and classics alike. The first venture saw the appreciation of the Cuban all-time favourite, Double Coronas Partagas Lusitanias which is a very sophisticated, complex and flavourful Cuban classic, under the wings of leading distributors of luxury goods, BMMI and Fazco. So, watch out for the next round in a few months’ time. E Call 17 586-555. diningf&bhappenings There couldn’t be anything more romantic than whiling your time away on an exclusive island.
