32 December 2011 BTM happeningsthismonth With this season’s first outdoor Amwaj Marina Market heralded as a great success, the organisers set their sights on creating an even bigger outing this month. Great street food, outdoor fun and some incredible thrift shopping ARE only a small portion of what you will find at the Amwaj Marina Market this month. The first market of the season, held last month, drew in 800 visitors of various nationalities from all over Bahrain. It featured a variety of goods that range from paintings and frames, photos, clothing, jewellery, shoes, children’s books, home electronics, furniture, traditional arts and crafts and seasonal decorations. Visitors could pick up some of their weekly food essentials at the organic fruits and vegetables stall from Al Ghalia Farms, plus baked goods, burgers, pizzas and smoothies. Market-goers had the opportunity to see the ACES Taekwondo School perform several shows throughout the day, while the little ones enjoyed the bouncy castle and kiddie rides. There are also ‘Once upon a Story Time’ and art and craft stations from Studio Ceramics and Imaginarium Art. Pet owners were pleasantly surprised with a Pet Arabia stand where their furry friends also got the royal treatment with a photo shoot. This month promise more fun and surprises for the entire family. The outdoor markets are scheduled to be held throughout the cooler months on the first Saturday of each month, unless a public holiday and, of course, weather permitting. A wide assortment of products and merchandise was on display, from frames, paintings, clothes by local designers, jewellery, shoes, pet products, flowers, handmade accessories, to DVDs and home electronics.
