The man behind it all Morten Georgsen, who owns a Spanish design firm, has been designing and developing wall units, tables and other pieces of furniture with BoConcept since 1992. Reproducibility and cost-efficiency are keywords in the design process,” he explains. This designer takes up the challenging task of creating furniture based on customers’ needs as they become more demanding and conscious of the advantages in each purchase. He accommodates BoConcept’s core values of simplicity and functionality in his pieces. “What good is it if a piece of furniture is beautiful but not functional? International design is very often created on the basis of a ‘suffer for beauty’ motto. Why, when you can have both?” he asks. His aim is not to change peoples’ lifestyle but to complement it. This is expressed in the increasing number of multifunctional designs such as the coffee table that can be raised to allow people to eat or work in front of the TV and the ultra-flexible Lecco wall system which fits in almost any room in the house, including drop-down doors for easy access to workstations, filing cabinets and sliding doors to hide the TV when not in use. To Morten Georgsen, great design is a long process from the initial idea, the development phase and to the final product.
