Bahrain This Month - December 2011

104 December 2011 BTM discoverbahrain This month will see the opening of the Prince Khalifa Public Park, a community-driven venture named after His Royal Highness the Prime Minister. The unveiling of the BD7 million park is set to coincide with the National Day festivities taking place throughout Bahrain. The park holds the unique advantage of boasting a stunning sea view, in addition to offering all of the amenities one would expect from a park. The sloping lawns and luscious landscaping will make it a wonderful place to enjoy the cooler weather, have a picnic and play ball games. The land covers an astonishing 80,000 sqm and is complete with many enhancements. An eight m wide interlock paved pathway winds its way around the entire length of the bay, providing a picturesque strolling route of 3.1 km. There is plenty of seating along the walkway for those who need a rest, plus a recreational garden including kiosks, gazebos and pergolas as well as a large children’s play area and equipment to keep the little ones busy. Many unique features are installed in the park, including a cascading waterfall to admire and dip your toes in, plus an artificial lake complete with pedalo boats to rent for a truly quaint park experience. Two footbridges will lead into the park; one over the Khalifa Al Kabeer Highway and the other over the Arad Highway. As well as a convenient pedestrian entrance to the park, the bridges will provide expansive and exposed views on either side, for you to soak in your surroundings. There is also ample parking with room for 400 cars, so you shouldn’t have to find an alternative place to leave your vehicle. Shopping amenities will also be available, including snack bars to indulge in when you or the kids feel peckish. Street lighting will be in operation for those nighttime runs and CCTV to ensure your safety at all times. The park will also include a viewing tower, to offer a complete view of the city, and a restaurant. The project to sculpt and create the beautiful park began last September, approved by the Ministry of Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning and carried out by MSCEB. It is located conveniently and will be open all day, every day, and to any one who wishes to enjoy it. The park is a part of a large-scale project to refurbish, build on and improve the recreational amenities for both families in Bahrain and visitors to the Kingdom. The Perfect Park A new park in Muharraq will provide a green utopia for people of all ages to enjoy. Sea views, a waterfall and a boating lake are just some of the enjoyable features to take part in.
