Bahrain This Month - August 2026

bahrainthismonth.com | AUGUST 2026 BACK TO SCHOOL 80 Raising the Standard With more than 30 years of educational excellence, an outstanding record of international recognition and a transformational new Senior School campus opening in 2027, The British School of Bahrain continues to build on its reputation as one of the Kingdom’s leading international schools. From the early years through to Sixth Form, The British School of Bahrain (BSB) provides a British education that combines academic excellence with personal development. That approach has earned the school a growing list of international accolades. BSB is ranked among the Top 15 schools in the Middle East and the Top 100 schools worldwide in Carfax’s Global School Index and has also been recognised as a Top Recommended School in the Spear’s Schools Index. Most recently, the school was commended in the British International School of the Year category at the Independent Schools of the Year Awards 2026. Those accolades are matched by strong academic results. BSB students regularly achieve impressive GCSE and A Level outcomes, with half of all grades awarded at A or A* in recent years. Students have also received numerous Pearson High Achiever and Outstanding Learner Awards, securing the highest marks in Bahrain, across the Middle East and, on several occasions, globally. That commitment extends to the classroom, where BSB’s teachers have also earned international recognition. Two BSB educators, Ms Yunus and Mr Howie, were shortlisted for the Pearson International School Teacher Awards 2026, representing two of Bahrain’s three shortlisted teachers. Their achievement highlights the quality of teaching across the school and the support students receive throughout their education. Graduates continue to secure offers from leading universities around the world, reflecting the strength of BSB’s academic guidance and its focus on preparing students for the next stage of their education. Investing in the Future BSB’s next chapter will begin with the opening of a dedicated Senior School campus for Years 10 to 13 in 2027. Located beside the existing campus, the purpose-built campus has been designed around the evolving needs of senior students, supporting greater independence and modern, student-centred learning. The new campus will feature advanced science laboratories, engineering and technology hubs, independent study areas, a contemporary library and professional-standard performing arts facilities. Students will also benefit from enhanced sporting infrastructure, including a FIFA-grade football pitch, a 400-metre athletics track and an eight-lane swimming pool. Families will continue to benefit from a single drop-off point serving both campuses, while the existing site undergoes a phased programme of refurbishment. The new campus represents a significant expansion of opportunities for students. A dedicated environment for Years 10 to 13 will strengthen the Sixth Form experience while expanding opportunities across academic, sporting, creative and technological disciplines, further reinforcing BSB’s leadership in Sixth Form education. A Global Outlook BSB’s commitment to education reaches well beyond Bahrain through initiatives that help create opportunities for young people around the world. Working in partnership with UNICEF, the school is helping provide access to education for 10,000 disadvantaged children. The BSB community recently raised and donated US$86,000 in support of this initiative, reflecting the school’s commitment to creating educational opportunities beyond Bahrain. As BSB enters its next chapter, it remains focused on preparing students to thrive at university and in an increasingly global world. britishschoolbahrain
